At the L, sound becomes connection.
We help turn access to sound into conversation, connection, and confidence with research-backed programs. Here you’ll find the right support for your child’s stage, from first diagnosis to classroom readiness and beyond.
Parent-Infant Program (PIP)
Start early—build the brain for listening.
The PIP begins as soon as hearing loss is suspected or diagnosed. Families meet weekly with an listening and spoken language therapist who coaches parents to turn everyday routines into powerful listening and language practice. Each session gives you practical guidance on device use, daily listening checks, and simple, play-based activities to help your baby respond to sound and build early words.
Ages:
Birth – 3 years
Focus:
Early sound access and parent coaching immediately after diagnosis
Why it matters:
Early sound trains the brain’s neural networks for listening, language, and learning. Every day of speech exposure strengthens those pathways.
Goal:
Equip parents to be their child’s first (and best!) teacher of listening and spoken language.
Preschool Program
Practice listening in real-life settings.
Our preschool is West Virginia’s first auditory-verbal classroom. Three mornings a week, children build language through purposeful listening and play while parents stay closely involved.
Classroom activities use auditory strategies to create an optimal listening environment—small-group routines target following directions, joining conversations, and growing vocabulary. Weekly one-on-one therapy reinforces these skills at home.
Ages:
3 – 5 years
Schedule:
Mon–Wed classroom (8:30 – 12:00) + individual parent-coaching
Led by:
A teacher in structured mentorship toward LSLS Cert. AVEd.
Why it works:
Combining consistent hearing-device use with immersive speech, play, and auditory strategies helps children enter school with age-level spoken language—ready to learn alongside hearing classmates.
Goal:
Prepare children to enter their local schools, ready to learn and communicate confidently.
Individual Auditory-Verbal Therapy
Personalized support at any age.
Some children need focused one-to-one therapy beyond the preschool years, or as a bridge before joining group programs. Weekly sessions target each child’s specific listening, language, and academic goals, and our LSL-certified therapist coaches parents at every visit so gains carry over at home and school.
For:
Infants through school-age children who use hearing aids or cochlear implants
Focus:
Complex language, classroom listening, early literacy, and independence
Why it matters:
Studies show that even when intervention begins later, steady access to intelligible speech and family involvement drive meaningful progress.
Goal:
Strengthen advanced listening, language, and literacy skills to help children succeed.
Teletherapy
Full clinical care from home.
For families who are out of driving range or prefer at-home convenience, teletherapy delivers the same coaching and expertise virtually.
Platform:
Secure video sessions via phone, tablet, or computer
Benefits
Therapy happens in the child’s natural environment, making it easier to apply strategies in daily routines
Support:
Our team coordinates with your audiologist and school providers
Goal:
Make high-quality LSL support accessible to every West Virginia family.
How it works
Sound + science
Early, consistent access to speech builds neural connections for listening, talking, reading, and cognition.
Parents lead the way
We coach the caregivers on optimal ways to turn everyday moments into language learning.
Team approach
Audiologists, therapists, and educators work together so families get coordinated care and see steady progress.
Proven outcomes
Research shows that children in LSL programs consistently develop stronger speech, language, and literacy skills.
